This international day is a day to remember the life and legacy of the first democratically elected president of a free South Africa, Nelson Mandela. This is a day for all to take action and inspire change in their communities. It also is an important day for the promotion of human conditions of imprisonment and human rights for prisoners, as Mandela himself was incarcerated for 27 years.
